How the ICELED products work

By using equal numbers of red, green and blue Light Emitting Diodes in each of our digital light sources they are all capable of producing virtually any colour imaginable. Just switching the diodes on or off in all possible combinations would result in the seven basic colours shown here.

However we go even further and control the intensity of each diode so finely that 2,097,152 different colour combinations are available. Apart from the incredible amount of choice that this provides, dramatic lighting effects also become possible with smooth transitions from one colour to another. It is only with such fine control that the hallmark ICELED effects can be generated.

In addition to the colour of the light produced, each different light source has it's own characteristic beam pattern. For example, on the left of the photo below, ICELED Spot produces a narrow beam suitable for spotlighting interior features at a distance. In the middle ICELED Gem produces a wider beam more suited to overall illumination at closer range. On the right a one-foot ICELED Tube creates a 'wash' of light to illuminate an even wider area.
